Five launch-board mistakes that waste a week

Pasting one blurb everywhere, stacking two daily hunts, filing BetaList last, buying votes, and measuring hunter counts. What to do instead.

What to prepare

  • Unique 300-word copy per board
  • One all-day hunt per calendar day
  • BetaList filed when the waitlist exists, not the week of Product Hunt

Resources

1. One blurb, twelve forms

Crawlers notice. Hunters notice. You stall. Write a kit once, then a unique short description per board. That is the whole productivity trick.

2. Two daily hunts on the same morning

You cannot sit in two comment threads. Product Hunt plus Uneed plus Hunt0 on one Tuesday is a campaign, not a launch. Leave a quiet day.

3. BetaList as an afterthought

The free queue is weeks. File it when the waitlist is real. If you file it the week of Product Hunt, you will miss the feature or pay to skip.

4. Buying the board

Paid skips for a queue you cannot wait on are fine. Paid votes are how you learn nothing and risk the account. If the room only works with a street team, pick a smaller room.

5. Measuring hunters

Signups, replies, demos, and the sentence people repeat. Hunter count is a vanity metric except on Product Hunt, where it is still not a customer.
